Make a difference: Donate your Old Eyewear

Published on April 27, 2022

Got old eyewear you no longer need? Why don’t you donate them to Asian Eye Institute’s MultiplEye: The Recycled Frames Project? Launched in 2020, it has two (2) crucial goals – first to help give the gift of sight to those who need it the most, and second, to help the environment.

Here are 6 things you need to know about MultiplEye:

Uncorrected refractive errors (nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism and presbyopia) are among the leading causes of preventable blindness in the Philippines. When you donate your old specs, you can help both children and adults have the eyeglasses they need to enjoy clear vision for work or school.

We are working hand-in-hand with the Ophthalmological Foundation of the Philippines (OFPHIL) to help kids learn better as they grow and aid adults to continue to beproductive. OFPHIL is a non-governmental organization (NGO) dedicated to preventing blindness in economically disadvantaged communities in the country.

We appreciate any eyewear – be it eyeglasses, reading glasses or sunglasses.

Is it usable or not? All the donated frames are cleaned, assessed and sorted prior to distribution. We will then put prescription lenses into the frames that fit the needs of the beneficiaries.

Grab those pairs and drop them off or send them to any clinics of Asian Eye Institute (Rockwell Makati, Trinoma, MOA, Commercenter Alabang) or EyeSite (St. Frances Cabrini Medical Center, SM City Fairview, ERCI Mandaluyong).
