Asian Eye Institute is a proud member of the First Philippine Holdings (FPH), which is owned by the Lopez Group. The institute, after all, is the culmination of the vision and perseverance of the late Mr. Oscar M. Lopez, former Lopez Group chair, and Dr. Felipe I. Tolentino, a world-renowned Filipino-American ophthalmologist. For many years, Mr. Lopez had to travel to Boston to get specialized treatments for his glaucoma.
During his visits abroad, he established a lasting friendship with Dr. Tolentino. They recognized the Filipinos’ urgent need for quality eye care, eventually leading them to build a center in the Philippines addressing this.
Dr. Tolentino then selected Harvard-trained ophthalmologists with different specializations to be the core medical team of Asian Eye Institute. Mr. Lopez mobilized his management team to organize and establish the center, supported by business and public service leaders who believed and shared the same vision.
Through their efforts, the far-reaching dream of providing quality eye care to Filipinos became a reality.
Asian Eye Institute is a world-class eye institute that puts the Philippines on the map of quality health care. Established in 2001, we are at the forefront of efforts to make breakthrough technologies for eye care treatment available to all patients. We serve 75,000 local and foreign patients annually.
We provide a full range of specialized medical services, including treating and managing cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, uveitis, strabismus, and corneal and external diseases.
We also offer advanced procedures, like LASIK, eye plastic surgery, pediatric ophthalmology and optometry, ocular genetics treatments, and low vision and visual rehabilitation. You can even visit our optical dispensary and contact lens services for optometry products.
Our core team is composed of specialists trained at reputable institutions, such as the Harvard Medical School. We also have competent medical staff members who provide expert treatment and have broad experience and knowledge. They collaborate with their fellow ophthalmologists and continue to pursue higher education and research.
Our medical team is recognized both here and abroad as leaders and key resources in their respective fields.
