Asian Eye Tele: What You Can Expect When You Consult Online

Published on: November 22, 2021

Almost two years into the pandemic, it didn’t seem like we would be able to go out for anything but important errands and urgent medical concerns. That is why Asian Eye Tele has been a tool for individuals and families to get the eye care they need from the safety of their homes.

Launched in 2020, Asian Eye Tele is an easy way for patients to consult with their eye doctor about their eye concerns without having to leave their home or office. It has been particularly useful for patients who live far from their doctor, or for those with co-morbidities. Patients can set an appointment if they are experiencing changes in vision, such as having irritation, blurry or wavy vision; eye injury no matter how minor; or eye pain or redness.

Asian Eye Tele also offers the following advantages:

  • You can get initial advice or it can serve as a way to help monitor your condition

TeleConsultation is our way of screening whether patients can stay home or if they need to go to the clinic for a more comprehensive checkup and tests. If you’re not sure whether you need to go to the clinic for a checkup or not, then Asian Eye Tele is for you. There is no need to worry because we refund the Tele Fee if you need to come in for an in-clinic checkup.

  • You don’t need much – just your phone and a stable Internet connection

Prior to your teleconsultation, make sure you have a properly functioning mobile phone or a laptop and a mic, and Internet speed of at least 1mbps. It would also help to stay in a private and quiet environment for a calm and uninterrupted consultation.

  • You get an easy access to Asian Eye doctors

Through Asian Eye Tele, you don’t need to go to any of our clinics to see an Asian Eye doctor. Just call the Asian Eye Tele hotlines, let us know what you’re experiencing, and we’ll refer you to the right doctor. You can also tell us if you have any preferred doctor, and we’ll set you an appointment with them.

  • You can request a copy of your prescription and even medical certificate

Asian Eye Tele provides a copy of your digital prescription, which you can use to purchase medicine at www.asianeyeshop.com or your preferred drug store. We can also issue your medical certificate, in case you need one.

  • Kids can get checked, too

Teleconsultation is not only for adults or senior citizens. It’s also for kids. Asian Eye’s pediatric ophthalmologists are available on Asian Eye Tele. Aside from the usual symptoms, they can also do an initial consultation to see whether your child has any eye alignment issues through an online test called the iMeasure.

  • You can use your HMO

At present, Asian Eye Tele is covered by Avega, Flexicare, Intellicare, Insular Health Care and Sunlife Grepa. If you’re using your HMO, make sure to inform the TeleHealth Nurse that will assist you. Our team will then process your request.

It’s important to note, however, that Asian Eye Tele is not a substitute for comprehensive eye exams done in clinics. A comprehensive eye exam is still the best way to determine the overall health of the inner and outer parts of the eye.  Patients who have eye emergencies and experience any pain, bleeding or sudden loss of vision, or urgent concerns like an increase in floater or see flashes of light must visit the clinic or the nearest hospital as soon as possible for a face-to-face checkup.

Setting an appointment is easy – just call or text the Asian Eye Tele Hotlines at 8-898-2020 or 0917-800-9103. Asian Eye Tele is available Mondays thru Sundays 9AM to 4PM. Learn more about Asian Eye Tele, or visit the Asian Eye Shop to avail of an e-GC for only Php400.

Cataracts are an age-related eye condition, where the normally clear lens of the eye becomes cloudy. Sometimes, it feels like looking at a fogged-up glass. If not treated, it can lead to blindness. Fortunately, surgery can be done to remove it. The ophthalmologist will remove the lens with cataract and replace it with an IOL. There are different kinds of IOLs available, all designed to improve vision.

Cataract Awareness Month: Reclaim Your Freedom, Restore Your Sight

June is Cataract Awareness Month, and as a leading eye center in the Philippines, Asian Eye aims to celebrate and raise awareness about the importance of cataract screenings and drive more individuals to seek timely treatment for cataracts. Cataracts are a common concern among older Filipinos and one of the major causes of visual impairment. According to the Philippine Eye Research Institute, there are 1.18 million people suffering from cataracts, with roughly 400,000 needing surgery.

Cataracts are the clouding of the eye’s natural lens, which can lead to symptoms such as blurry vision, difficulty seeing at night, and increased sensitivity to glare. It can lead to blindness if left untreated, so it’s essential to have them removed when they begin to interfere with your daily activities, such as driving, watching TV, or cooking.

Cataract surgery is a common procedure that involves removing the cloudy natural lens and replacing it with an artificial intraocular lens. Laser cataract surgery offers several advantages over traditional surgery, and Asian Eye is proud to offer patients with cutting-edge solutions for their eye care needs.

Asian Eye utilizes VICTUS Femtolaser technology from the renowned German brand Bausch + Lomb. This advanced technology is able to break up and remove the cloudy lens using significantly less energy, minimizing the risk of damage to surrounding tissues and promoting quicker healing.

Regular visits to your eye doctor are paramount, as they can advise you on the timing of the surgery and explain the benefits and risks involved. If you have an elderly loved one who complains of cloudy or blurry vision, consider giving them the gift of sight with the following Cataract Screening and Surgery deals:

40% off for one (1) cataract screening

50% off for two (2) or more cataract screenings

20% off on cataract surgery

*if scheduled within one (1) week after the screening or deposit is given within (2) weeks

It’s important to make informed decisions with a trusted eye care specialist and to book an appointment with Asian Eye to take proactive steps towards better vision and eye health.

Asian Eye Institute is located at Phinma Plaza, Rockwell Center, Makati with satellite offices located in TriNoma, Quezon City, and Mall of Asia, Pasay City. For inquiries and appointments, you may call 8898- 2020 or send an email to [email protected].
