In many cases, cataract surgery is an outpatient procedure performed under local anesthesia. During the operation, the surgeon will use specialized instruments to delicately remove and replace the cloudy lens with an intraocular lens. Patients generally experience a rapid recovery as long as they follow their doctor’s post-operative care instructions.
This surgery uses the VICTUS Femtosecond Laser to create an incision on the cornea and open the capsule to access and break the cataract. This procedure is more precise and ensures better visual outcomes for patients. Asian Eye Institute is the only eye care facility in the Philippines that has the VICTUS Femtosecond Laser by Bausch + Lomb that can be used for cataract and LASIK surgeries.
In traditional cataract surgery, a blade or a knife is used to make an incision on the cornea. The capsule is then manually opened to access the cataract, then a chopper instrument will be used to break it. This procedure is safe and effective, as well as more affordable than the VICTUS Femtosecond Laser surgery.
The best thing about cataract surgery is that it is an incredibly effective procedure with a high success rate. Patients who have lost their vision (either partially or totally) can regain their eyesight after healing. This helps improve their quality of life, allowing them to perform daily tasks again.
We deliver to all our patients the highest quality eye care on a par with the best in the world. We make high-quality eye care available and accessible to the Filipinos. We advance the science and practice of ophthalmology and optometry in Asia and the Pacific Rim.
