EYE MISSIONS

The world is beautiful, and we want more people to see the beauty and wonder of life. This is why we partner with different organizations to provide free eye checkups and operations in indigent communities around the Philippines.

Accessible Eye Care for All: Why Eye Missions Matter to Us

Many Filipinos are classified as indigent, unable to access or afford high-quality eye care for themselves or their families. That is why our team at Asian Eye Institute is committed to making our services more accessible by partnering with the Ophthalmological Foundation of the Philippines (OFPHIL), along with other pharmaceutical companies, non-government organizations (NGOs), and local government units (LGUs).

Giving Back to the Community

Since 2002, Asian Eye Insitute has participated in cataract surgery missions. Free cataract screenings and surgeries have been done on 770 eyes since then. The indigent patients come from different areas around Manila, Pasig, Pasay, Quezon City, Marikina, and Bulacan.

Treating Indigent Cataract Patients

In 2011, as part of our 10th anniversary and commemoration of Rizal’s 150th birth anniversary, we launched the “Bringing Hope to Life: 150 Eyes Cataract Surgery Mission.” We partnered with the Cataract Foundation Philippines, Inc. and operated on 150 eyes to help patients achieve better quality of life through improved vision. Beneficiaries were from partner communities and organizations, including:
  • PHINMA Foundation
  • Philippine Army
  • Cavite Mayor’s League
  • Our Lady of Peace Mission Aeta Resettlement Community in Zambales
  • Pangarap Foundation Resettlement Communities in Cavite and Pasay City
  • Philippine Christian Foundation Resettlement Community in Tondo
  • BayaniJuan in Calauan, Laguna
  • Sinag Kalinga Foundation in Quezon
  • San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan

Sponsored Communities of the following:
  • First Philippine Industrial Park (Pantay Bata, Tanauan City)
  • First Gas Sta. Rita (Brgy. Aplaya, Batangas)
  • First Gen in Pantabangan (Nueva Ecija)

Asian Eye Institute continues to partner with select private companies as part of their corporate social responsibility programs. Following an evaluation system used by our team and the participating companies, these surgeries remain free of charge to deserving indigent patients. As of December 2015, we have already operated on 291 eyes.

Free Diagnostic Services

Asian Eye Institute also provides diagnostic services, surgeries, and treatments to indigent patients referred by OFPHIL. This is done for complex cases or conditions that require specialized equipment. In the last decade, we have already subsidized treatment on about 1,200 eyes, most of which were cases referred by OFPHIL.
